Cruguel ( Breton : Krugell , Gallo: Crugèu ) is a French municipality with 651 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Morbihan in the region of Brittany .

geography

Cruguel is located in the northern half of the eastern part of the Morbihan department and belongs to the Pays de Josselin.

Neighboring municipalities are Guégon in the north, Saint-Servant in the east, Lizio in the southeast, Plumelec in the south, Billio in the west and Guéhenno in the northwest.

The place is close to roads for national traffic. The most important regional road connection for the municipality is the D126 between Plumelec and Josselin , which runs west of the town from south to north through the municipality. The closest connection to the N 24 is around twelve kilometers further north at Josselin.

The most important bodies of water are the Chênaie and Sedon streams . These partially form the municipal boundary. There are also some small ponds in the municipality. Only a small part of the municipal area is covered by forest areas.

history

The municipality historically belongs to the Breton region of Bro Gwened (French: Vannetais) and within this region to the area Reter Bro Gwened (French: Vannetais oriental) and shares its history. From 1801 until its dissolution on September 10, 1926, it belonged to the Arrondissement of Ploërmel. From 1793 to 1801 Cruguel belonged to the canton of Plumelec. Since then it has been assigned to the canton of Josselin.
