Pleugriffet ( Breton : Ploueg-Grifed ) is a French municipality with 1272 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Morbihan in the region of Brittany . It belongs to the community association Pontivy Communauté .

geography

Pleugriffet is located in the center of Brittany in the north of the Morbihan department and belongs to the Pays de Pontivy.

Neighboring municipalities are Bréhan in the northeast, Forges de Lanouée in the east, Guégon in the southeast, Lantillac in the south, Radenac in the southwest, Réguiny in the west and Crédin in the northwest and north.

The place is away from roads for national traffic. The most important road connection is the D764 from Pontivy to Josselin , which runs right through the municipality. The next major road connection is the N24, which runs several kilometers south of the municipality.

The most important bodies of water are the river Oust , the stream La Ville and the Canal de Nantes à Brest . The municipal boundary partially runs along these watercourses.

history

Historically, the municipality belongs to the Breton region of Bro-Gwened (French: Vannetais) and within this region to the Bro Baod (French: Pays de Baud) area and shares its history. From 1801 until its dissolution on September 10, 1926, it belonged to the Arrondissement of Ploërmel. From 1793 until its dissolution in 1801, Pleugriffet belonged to the canton of Réguiny.
