Saint-Allouestre ( Breton : Sant-Aleustr ) is a French municipality with 627 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Morbihan in the region of Brittany .
geography
Saint-Allouestre is located in the southern part of Brittany in the center of the Morbihan department and belongs to the Pays de Pontivy.
Neighboring municipalities are Radenac in the northeast, Buléon in the east, Bignan in the south and southwest and Moréac in the northwest.
The N24 runs through the municipality from Lorient to Rennes . In the south-north direction, the D11 from Saint-Jean-Brévelay to Rohan is the most important transport link.
The Claie River and the Sainte-Anne and Keriolas streams are the main bodies of water in the municipality. The municipal boundary partially runs along the streams.

history
Saint-Allouestre is first mentioned in 1280 under the name of Saint-Argoestle . Historically, the municipality belongs to the Breton region of Bro-Gwened (French: Vannetais) and within this region to the Bro Baod (French: Pays de Baud) area and shares its history. From 1801 until its dissolution on September 10, 1926, it belonged to the Arrondissement of Ploërmel. From 1793 until its dissolution in 1801, Saint-Allouestre belonged to the canton of Bignan. Since then, the municipality has been assigned to the canton of Saint-Jean-Brévelay.
