Saint-Thuriau ( Breton : Sant-Turiav ) is a French municipality with 1863 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Morbihan in the region of Brittany . It belongs to the community association Pontivy Communauté .
geography
Saint-Thuriau is located in the north of the Morbihan department and belongs to the Pays de Pontivy.
Neighboring communities are Noyal-Pontivy in the north-east and east, Évellys with Moustoir-Remungol in the south-east and south, Pluméliau-Bieuzy with Pluméliau in the south-west, Le Sourn in the west and Pontivy in the north-west.
The D700 / D768 (formerly Route nationale 168 ) runs through the municipality as the most important road connection. The D767 runs through the eastern part of the municipality from Guingamp to Vannes .
The most important bodies of water are the Blavet River and the Fontaine Nevé , Coëthuan and Kerihuel streams . These also partially form the municipal boundary.

history
Historically, the municipality belongs to the Breton region of Bro Gwened (French: Vannetais) and within this region to the Bro Pondi (French: Pays de Pontivy) area and shares its history. It was created in 1839 by splitting the former municipality of Noyal-Pontivy into five municipalities.
