Rostrenen is a French municipality with 3060 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in Côtes-d'Armor in the region of Brittany ; it belongs to the arrondissement of Guingamp and the canton of Rostrenen . The municipality belongs to the communal association Communauté de communes du Kreiz-Breizh .
The place claims to be the one with the most rainy days in France.
history
Rostrenen means “blackberry hill” in Breton - according to tradition, the wooden figure of the Virgin Mary , which is in the local church, was found in a blackberry hedge. In an annual procession (August 15th - Assumption ) it is shown in the open air. The pilgrimage on this procession is one of the most visited in Brittany.
