Christophe Honoré (born April 10, 1970 in Carhaix-Plouguer ) is a French theater and film director , screenwriter and writer .

Life

Christophe Honoré grew up in Rostrenen , Côtes-d'Armor . He studied modern literature at the University of Rennes 2 and attended a film school in Rennes . In 1995 he moved to Paris and became a columnist for various magazines, including "Les Cahiers du cinéma". During this time he also spoke on many radio programs on the subject of cinema.

He wrote his theater debut, Les Débutantes , for the Avignon Festival in 1988. In October 2003 it was broadcast on France Culture . In 2005 he took part in the festival again with Dionysus impuissant , a modernized version of Euripides Die Bakchen . Louis Garrel played Dionysus and Joana Preiss was seen as Semele . In 2008 he directed Angelo, tyran de Padoue by Victor Hugo , which made its debut again at the Avignon Festival and then went on tour. He then worked for the CDDB theater in Lorient .

Honoré wrote some books for young people. In his youth literature he often deals with rather difficult and "adult" topics such as suicide , AIDS , the lies of adults, incest or family secrets.

He directed the film Dans Paris in 2006, Les Chansons d'amour in 2007 and La Belle Personne , a contemporary version of The Princess of Clèves , in 2008 for Arte television . It aired there in September 2008 before being released as a feature film a few days later. In 2009, Non ma fille tu n'iras pas danser appeared , in which the actress Chiara Mastroianni has a major role.

In April 2009 he and other filmmakers Chantal Akerman , Jean-Pierre Limosin , Zina Modiano , Gaël Morel , Victoria Abril , Catherine Deneuve , Louis Garrel , Yann Gonzalez , Clotilde Hesme , Chiara Mastroianni , Agathe Berman and Paulo Branco signed an open letter, which was directed against the Hadopi law.
