Chiara-Charlotte Mastroianni (born May 28, 1972 in Paris ) is a French actress .

Private life

Chiara Mastroianni is the daughter of actors Catherine Deneuve and Marcello Mastroianni . It is at times grew up with her father and his wife Flora Carabella in Italy, attended the Lycée Chateaubriand di Roma and speaks French and Italian . The actor Christian Vadim is her older half-brother from Deneuve's relationship with Roger Vadim .

Chiara Mastroianni was in a relationship with the actor Melvil Poupaud from 1990 to 1992 . She has a son (* 1996) from a relationship with Pierre Torreton . From 2002 to 2005 she was married to the French singer Benjamin Biolay , with whom she has a daughter (* 2003).

Career

At the age of 21 she stood by her mother's side for the first time in front of the film camera in André Téchiné's family drama My Favorite Season . For her film debut in 1994 she was nominated for a César in the category of best young actress, but the award went to Valeria Bruni Tedeschi .

Mastroianni also took part in international productions. So she was z. B. seen in the US comedy Prêt-à-Porter together with her father as well as Sophia Loren , Julia Roberts and many other stars. In the following years she worked with renowned French film directors such as Xavier Beauvois , Raúl Ruiz and Manoel de Oliveira , but she also worked in numerous works by young directors and in independent productions. In 2003 she was in the directorial debut Rather goes a camel through the eye of a needle ... to see her friend Valeria Bruni-Tedeschi . In the award-winning first work, she embodied the sister of the main character, the model Bianca, who bears clear traits from Bruni-Tedeschi's biological sister Carla Bruni .

In the biographical animated film Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi , which was nominated for the Oscar in 2008 for the best animated film , Mastroianni speaks as the young author who tells how she experienced the Gulf War as a young girl and finally left Iran as an adult .

In 2016 Chiara Mastroianni was appointed to the competition jury of the 73rd Venice International Film Festival .
