Melvil Matthias Julien Poupaud (born January 26, 1973 in Paris ) is a French actor , film director and screenwriter .

Life

Melvil Poupaud is the son of filmmaker Chantal Poupaud . His older brother is the musician Yarol Poupaud and his uncle is the director Jacques Richard .

One of his first major roles was that of the young lover Grégoire in the cinematic approach to Søren Kierkegaard's 1995 classic Diary of a Seducer. In 1996, Poupaud played the young Gaspard in Éric Rohmers melodrama Sommer , who was on a beach in Brittany between the three women Lena , Margot and Solène . In 1998 he was declared a European Shooting Star . In addition to acting, he devotes himself to realizing his own film projects such as music .

From 1990 to 1992 he was in a relationship with the actress Chiara Mastroianni . He was married to the author Georgina Tacou , with whom he has a daughter, for ten years .
