Black Heaven (original title L'autre monde , means to transport someone to the afterlife ) is a Franco-Belgian thriller by Gilles Marchand from 2010.
action
The newly in love Gaspard and Marion witness an attempted double suicide, which the attractive Audrey barely survives in contrast to her companion. Gaspard finds out that Audrey spends most of her time doing an obscure online role-playing game. Captivated by the mysterious aura that surrounds Audrey, Gaspard is drawn into the game too. He falls in love with her and turns away from Marion.
Too late he notices that Audrey is just a puppet of her sadistic brother Vincent, who uses her avatar in role play to seduce people to commit suicide and to watch them. When Gaspard tries to free her from her brother's clutches, Vincent lures him into a trap. Vincent tries to fake Gaspard's suicide on a skyscraper roof, but before that happens, Audrey leaps to her death. Paralyzed by his sister's suicide, Vincent leaves the house without a word and is arrested a little later. Gaspard solemnly begs Marion for forgiveness.
Reviews
“The potential dangers of anonymity on the Internet are dealt with in a dark and effective way in Marchand's Black Heaven . An intelligent thriller that is a bit difficult to get going, but that convinces in the end. "
