Agentura da Novitads Rumantscha

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Agency da Novitads Rumantscha ( Romansh for "Romansh news agency" , officially abbreviated to ANR ) is a news agency in Switzerland that writes its articles in Romansh.

Working method

The ANR has existed since January 1997. It is the contractual partner of the Rhaeto-Romanic newspapers in the canton of Graubünden , La Quotidiana , Pagina da Surmeir and Posta Ladina . It also supplies the cantonal electronic media, Radio Südostschweiz and Radio Engiadina . She writes her articles in Rumantsch Grischun as well as in all five regional idioms .

The main editorial office is based in Chur . There are branches in Bern , in the Surselva region in Disentis , Cumpadials , Trun and Waltensburg / Vuorz , in Oberhalbstein in Sur , in the Lower Engadine in Zernez and Scuol and in st. Gallic Uznach .

The budget is 1.2 million Swiss francs . Two thirds of this comes from the Swiss Confederation and one third from the Canton of Graubünden.

Representatives from Radio Grischa and Radio Engiadina as well as delegates from Lia Rumantscha and Pro Svizra Rumantscha belong to the board of trustees .

outlook

The ANR is also significantly involved in the publication of the only Romansh daily newspaper La Quotidiana . In 2017 it became known that the newspaper's publisher, Somedia , no longer wanted to cover the newspaper's annual deficit and would close the newspaper until the end of 2017 if there was no solution. This would also result in the termination of the ANR. An interim solution was found for 2018. For the future, the Lia Rumantscha should work out a concept in the course of 2018 with the “Medias rumantschas 2019” project. In October 2018, the Lia Rumantscha presented the concept. According to this, a new news agency financed by the federal government and the canton of Graubünden is to ensure the survival of the Romansh media, which is financially under pressure. To this end, a new foundation, “Fundaziun Medias Rumantschas”, is to set up an editorial team of twelve to make its texts primarily available to the Romansh media free of charge. The new news agency is to replace the ANR and receive CHF 2.15 million a year instead of CHF 1.2 million. She could start her work in September 2019 at the earliest.
