The Lia Rumantscha ( [liɐ̯ruˈmantʃɐ] ? / I ) based in the Chasa rumantscha in Chur and regional branches in Ilanz , Scuol and Savognin was founded on October 26, 1919 in Chur as the umbrella organization for all Romance language associations. It sees itself as a non-profit institution and is denominationally neutral. With its mandate to use federal and cantonal funds for the promotion of the Romance language and culture, it fulfills a public service mandate. Audio file / audio sample

activities

The Lia Rumantscha supports, promotes and coordinates the projects of regional Romansh associations, supraregional associations and Romansh organizations outside the Romansh main area in favor of the Romansh language and culture. The delegates of these affiliated associations determine the work program and budget of the Lia Rumantscha once a year at the delegates' meeting. It provides information about the Romance language and culture and advises institutions, organizations and private individuals. Your areas of activity are diverse. The focus is on the following topics: politics (including community mergers), education (Romansh school of the future, adult education), language (promotion of spoken and written language, standard language Rumantsch Grischun and idioms ) and culture (promotion of Romansh artists, reading material for children - and young people).

Chasa Editura Rumantscha

Together with the federal government and the canton, the Lia Rumantscha supports the literary publisher Chasa Editura Rumantscha (CER). The CER has existed since the beginning of 2010. It offers professional publishing services and aims to make the small but lively literary scene in Rumantschia more visible. The CER edition program includes Romance fiction, children's and young people's books and e-books.
