Georges Darms

Georges Darms (born December 20, 1946 in Ruschein ) is a Swiss Indo-European and Romanist .

Life

He studied German, Romance philology, Romansh and Indo-European studies in Freiburg , Munich and Regensburg .

From 1982 to 1992 he headed a project of the Swiss National Science Foundation , with which the basis for the new Graubünden Romance standard language Rumantsch Grischun was worked out. In another project he wrote the grammar of Rumantsch Grischun .

In 1991, Georges Darms was appointed to the chair of Romansh Studies at the University of Freiburg im Üechtland , where he taught until his retirement in 2012. His successor is Matthias Grünert . From 1999 to 2003 he was Vice Rector of the University of Freiburg.
