local community
The pastor shares the pastor with Mulegns , and since 1994 also the postal delivery organization. The former parish ran the primary school together with Mulegns and Marmorera from 1975 to 2006 ; for the secondary school, the pupils have had to go to Savognin since 1963 . Primary school students have been taught in Bivio since 2006 . The former community is very old; two thirds of the residents are over 60 years old.
In March 2006, the voters decided at a community meeting as the first community in Oberhalbstein to teach the new written language Rumantsch Grischun at the school. So far, the Surmeir, which is common throughout the Surmeir, has been taught. On March 10, 2006, the majority of the residents of Sur and other communities in the valley rejected a merger of all communities in Oberhalbstein.
