Dieter Hausold (born October 29, 1955 in Coschütz ) is a German politician ( PDS , today Die Linke ). From December 1998 to March 2006 he was state chairman of his party and from October 2005 to November 2009 he was parliamentary group chairman of the left-wing parliamentary group and thus opposition leader in the Thuringian state parliament .

Vita until 1990

From 1962 to 1972 he attended the Polytechnic High School in Greiz . He then did an apprenticeship as a machine and system fitter. From 1974 to 1979 he worked as a fitter and warehouse clerk at VEB Plasttechnik Greiz . From 1980 to 1983 he studied at the Karl Marx party college , after which he was an editor at the newspaper Volkswacht in Gera until 1990 . Shortly before the fall of the Wall, he was promoted to deputy editor-in-chief, and in the upheaval phase, the employees elected him editor-in-chief . In the course of the privatization of the newspaper to today's Ostthüringer Zeitung , he was dismissed as an SED member.

Party career

From 1990 to June 2004, Hausold worked as an employee of the PDS regional association of Thuringia. He has been a member of the Thuringian state parliament since 2004. In 1990, Hausold became chairman of the Gera district association without having previously held any other offices and remained so until 1995. Since 1994, he has been a member of the state board, from 1996 as deputy chairman. In 1998 Hausold was elected state chairman and held this position until March 2006. Since the Left Party in Thuringia, which was finally formed in 2007 together with the WASG, the separation of party and parliamentary group chairmanship is customary, Hausold did not run for election to the state executive again in March 2006 after he had been elected parliamentary group leader in the state parliamentary group.

Political and social offices

Dieter Hausold was a member of the Gera city council from 1990 to 1994 and chairman of the Left List / PDS parliamentary group . Since 1994 he has been a member of the Gera city council in the PDS parliamentary group (since 2007: left parliamentary group), where he was also chairman until 2001. Since July 2009 he has been chairman of the Gera city council.

From 2004 to 2019, Hausold was a directly elected member of the Gera II constituency of the Thuringian state parliament. At the end of 2005 he became - after Bodo Ramelow moved to the Bundestag - chairman of the Left Party.PDS parliamentary group (since 2007: Left parliamentary group). After the state elections in 2009 , he was temporarily confirmed in this office by the left-wing parliamentary group until a government was still to be formed. Since the SPD decided in favor of a coalition with the CDU and against cooperation with the Left Party, Bodo Ramelow took over the chairmanship again on November 3, 2009. After defending his direct mandate in the 2014 state elections , he did not run for the 2019 state elections .

Hausold is also a member of the administrative board of Sparkasse Gera-Greiz and chairman of the supervisory board of OTEGAU - East Thuringian Development Company for Work and Environment

Dieter Hausold is married and has one child. He lives in Gera .
