The constituency of Gera II (constituency 42) is a state electoral district in Thuringia . The constituency includes the southern part of the independent city of Gera with the districts of Alt-Taubenpreskel , Dürrenebersdorf , Falka , Gera, Kaimberg , Langengrobsdorf , Lietzsch , Naulitz , Poris-Lengefeld , Thränitz , Weißig , Zeulsdorf and Zschippern . In the last state elections, 38,316 residents were entitled to vote, 17,753 of whom voted. This corresponds to a turnout of 46.3%.
The city of Gera is traditionally fiercely contested between the CDU, SPD and PDS / Left, with a tendency towards the left particularly noticeable in the last state elections.
