Together with Collis and Am Stern, Thränitz forms the 3.51 hectare district of Thränitz in the independent city of Gera in Thuringia . It has 413 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2013).

Geographical location

Thränitz is located between the core town of Gera in the northwest, the districts of Naulitz in the northeast, Collis in the southwest and the Ronneburg district of Grobsdorf in the east-southeast. The Lammsbach , a tributary of the Gessenbach, flows through it .

history

The establishment of the place can be assumed in the Sorbian settlement period; the name Thränitz means something like grassland. The oldest mention of the place is the consecration document of the church from 1238. The first reliable source (documentary mention) is in the copy books (ThHStAW, Ernestinisches Gesamtarchiv, Kopialbuch D 6, Vol. 2, Bl. 73v-75r). This is a loan letter for nickel from the end of March 5, 1515, which mentions Thränitz among other things.

In 1533 it was recorded as Thrainitz and in 1534 as Dreynitz . 1530 can be found in an old case file the following indication: "Interest and Frohnenberg in the village of Thrainitz have alders Geyn Lubschwitz ( Liebschwitz belongs) and moved following Geyn Kaym (Kaimberg)." H D.. Thränitz was owed to the Kaimberg manor . Around 1560, some farmers from Thränitzer and Grobsdorf began to refuse their feudal lords to do compulsory labor, whereupon there was a large compulsory trial in 1562 with 24 individual complaints; however, they did not achieve much.

Belonging to the Grand Duchy of Saxony-Weimar-Eisenach , the parish of Thränitz was for centuries the mother church for the surrounding communities Kaimberg , Pforten , Gessen (until 1848), Collis, Zschippern (both rule Reuss younger line ), Grobsdorf (each half to the Kingdom of Saxony and belonging to the Duchy of Altenburg ) and from 1928 Poris-Lengefeld . The church inventory from 1574 shows that beer is a staple food in this area. a. listed "Eyn Braupfan on which you can brew six bushels of Weidisch mas ..."

Thränitz was one of the oldest school locations in the area, it existed long before the Reformation. In 1794 it is described as completely redesigned, insured for 500 guilders, covered with straw, and the forge made of burnt bricks.

The Seven Years' War from 1756 to 1763 demanded 1000 thalers contribution money to the Prussians from the Thränitz community .

In the 18th century, the Cruciger gang, a band of robbers from the Wurzen area, who preferred to sell their stolen goods at the market in Weida, found shelter in Thränitz for a few years . The farmers who host them have to pay dearly for this.

On July 1, 1950, the previously independent municipality of Collis was incorporated.

In the course of the municipal structural reform in Thuringia, on July 1, 1994, the municipality of Thränitz was incorporated into the city of Gera.

In the years 2003/04 the no longer used garage wing of the machine-tractor-stations (MTS) could be converted into a small community center and fire station with a lot of personal contribution, with donations in kind and money from the town as well as with funds from the city of Gera .

  • Thränitz village church , consecrated in 1238. The church tower in its current form was built between 1719 and 1722, and in 1731 the nave and roof were structurally changed. The interior of the church was redesigned in 1952, the expansion removed, the choir and organ, which were originally located behind the altar, were moved over the entrance, and the sermon pulpit, which was also located above the altar, is now located on the so-called triumphal arch. In 2000/01 the facade was renovated, the weather vane and spire were renewed. The bells from 1465 and 1501 are remarkable.
