The district of Niebra , together with Wüstfalke , Großfalka , Kleinfalke and Otticha, forms the Gera locality of Falka with a total of 416 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2011).

Niebra is located in the southeastern corner of the city of Gera on the border with the Greiz district.

history

The place of Sorbian origin was first mentioned in a document in 1209, referring to a knight Albert von Niebern. Belonging to the Kingdom of Saxony ( Ziegenhierdsches Ländchen ), the enclave came to the former district of Gera in 1928.

Attractions

At the fortified church from the early 15th century, especially the walmbedachte tower is interesting, has experienced over the centuries no significant changes. Inside it houses a valuable St. Mary's altar.

Niebra, Großfalka, Kleinfalke with the associated Wüstfalke and Otticha formed the new municipality of Falka on July 1, 1950 , which was incorporated into the city of Gera on April 1, 1994 . Since then, the places have formed the Falka district of the city of Gera with its own local constitution and local council (until II / 2009 local council) . The district mayor is Herbert Dietrich (non-party).
