history

Trebnitz, which was probably formed during the Slavic settlement period, was first mentioned in a document on February 17, 1376. With the exception of the years 1514 to 1574, Trebnitz was always owned by the bailiffs of Gera and they were obliged to pay a fee. From 1550 begins V. At that time, the place is a branch church of the Reussian Evangelical Parish Schwaara . In 1827 the place had 28 houses and 160 inhabitants, in 1870 the place consisted of 38 houses, 30 barns, church, school, poor house, shepherd's house and syringe house.

Trebnitz was also a school location for Laasen and Schwaara for many centuries . The existence of a school in Trebnitz is mentioned for the first time in 1590, a first new schoolhouse was built in 1607, another new building was built in 1902. This school was closed in 1970, after which schooling took place in Brahmenau .

The Trebnitz corridor received a sensitive cut in 1937/38 with the construction of the Reichsautobahn (today Bundesautobahn 4).

After 1945, in the course of the collectivization of agriculture, a type 3 LPG was founded, and in 1956 12 hectares of arable land had to be ceded to the Soviet armed forces stationed in Gera .

A commercial area designated after the fall of the Wall has been the location of a large retail market since 1992, and a wholesale market since 1995.

As part of the regional reform in Thuringia, Trebnitz was incorporated into the city of Gera in the early 1990s - against the will of the residents who wanted to remain in the district; a constitutional complaint was finally rejected in 1997.
