Debschwitz is a district of Gera .
location
The town is located southwest of the city center within the closed urban development and is in the east of the White Elster , in the west of Gera Stadtwald limited. Bundesstraße 2 runs along the northern edge of Debschwitz, at the transition to Heinrichsgrün ; Lusan joins to the south .
history
Debschwitz was first mentioned in 1363 as Tuschwicz and in 1532 as Dobschitz . With industrialization , the suburb southwest of the city of Gera grew rapidly. On April 1, 1912 Debschwitz was incorporated into Gera; At that time it was already one of the largest communities in the Principality of Reuss Younger Line with over 7,500 inhabitants .

Line 3 of the Gera tram crosses Debschwitz from north to south through Wiesestrasse. On the northern edge of Debschwitz, Bundesstraße 2 ( Straße des Friedens ) runs, on the eastern edge, along the White Elster, Bundesstraße 92 ( Elsterdamm / Vogtlandstraße ).
Attractions
In the north-west of Debschwitz are the Gera zoo and the dahlia garden . On the western edge of the district, on the Fuchsberg above the valley floor, the 30 m high Fuchsturm rises up in 1901, an observation tower that was called Kaiser Wilhelm Tower until 1930 and then again from 1933 to 1945.
