history

Documented mentions of a place Falka (Falcovie, Valcka) from 1182, 1209 and 1308 do not allow a clear statement about the actually meant place - Großfalka or Kleinfalke. Later property registers of the Mildenfurth monastery state properties in Großfalka, so that the first documentary mention can be set to 1209. From 1529 both places are documented clearly distinguishable.

In 1843 the place consisted of twelve houses with 82 inhabitants.

On October 1, 1923, Kleinfalke (with the Wüstfalke incorporated in 1919) was incorporated, and on April 10, 1924, the community was renamed Falka. On June 16, 1924, the communities of Großfalka and Kleinfalke were restored.

On July 1, 1950, the communities Großfalka, Kleinfalke, Niebra and Otticha merged to form the community Falka; on April 1, 1994 it was incorporated into Gera.
