history

The place is Slavic foundation. The oldest known documentary mention as "Rodhacice" can be found in a document from Bishop Udo von Naumburg from 1146. Other spellings were u. a. Roschitz (1816). Nothing has been preserved from a moated castle located on the site of the present-day estate .

The St. Nikolaus parish church has also been the parish church for neighboring Bieblach since 1401 . The school built in 1734 was replaced by a new school in 1883. Another new school was built in 1902.

A part of the place belonged to the rule of Gera, the other to the Duchy of Saxony-Altenburg . A modest change from farming village to industry begins in 1789 with the establishment of a porcelain painting by Heinrich Ernst Mühlberg; from 1811 also a porcelain factory on the Roschütz manor. In 1865 Friedrich August Reinecke took over the company, which produced until 1991. In 1827 the smaller part of the village belonging to the Reuss rule had 5 taxable houses with 33 residents. On October 1, 1922, the Altenburg and Russian parts of the community are united.
In 1938 the NSV set up a pig fattening facility for 800 animals, which are fed with the vegetable and fruit waste from Gera households, colloquially known as NSV pig. In 1939 a Reich labor camp for girls was set up in the former manor house .

From 1945 the land reform also took place in Roschütz , and in the 1950s the individual farms were merged into a type 1 LPG .

The Roschütz summer pool opened in 1948 in the park of the former manor, and it quickly became very popular - and not just with bipeds: on August 31, 1986, 20 cows from the Roschütz LPG went on a trip to the pool, two of them dare to swim a lap others prefer the manicured green of the lawn.
