The formerly independent communities Unterröppisch and Oberröppisch were merged on November 1, 1948 to form the new municipality Röppisch . This was incorporated into the city of Gera on July 1, 1950. The Röppisch district of the city of Gera has 616 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2013).

geography

Unterröppisch is located on the left bank of the White Elster in the south of Gera in the direction of Weida on the federal road 92 on the border with the Greiz district.

history

Unterröppisch, previously also written Unter-Röpisch , historically belonged to the Weida office of the Grand Duchy of Saxony-Weimar . Belonging to the parish of Sirbis there is a branch church, which was originally secured with moats.

In 1825 20 houses with 100 inhabitants were counted, eight of which were listed as farmers and 8 as cottagers. The place had to give 99 bushels of interest grain annually.
