history

Excavations have shown that Negis was already settled in the Band Pottery Age. Probably a Sorbian border village in origin, Negis was first mentioned in 1121 as Nigaune . In 1827 the place had 15 houses and 68 inhabitants. The responsible parish or school location was the neighboring Dorna until 1970.

On July 1, 1950, Negis was incorporated into Röpsen together with Dorna. On July 1, 1994 Negis came to the city of Gera together with Röpsen.

The village image is characterized by courtyards lined up to the right and left of the Negisbach. According to a decision by the Gera city planners not to allow any development outside of the current grounds, the townscape should also be preserved in its originality in the future.
