history

Fallen memorial at the Taubenpreskel cemetery, Lisa Simcik-Kroemer, 1920/21

Old finds on the Zoitzberg indicate an early settlement around 30,000 BC. BC and thus one of the earliest settlements in this region.

First mentioned in a document on February 11, 1362 as Prosklin (1411 as Proskelin), the manor Taubenpreskel together with Ober- and Unterröppisch as well as Kaimberg were awarded an annuity for the nun Sophie Ulrich in the Cronschwitz monastery ; In 1554 it was documented as a Saxon enclave in a document from the diocese of Naumburg . The place belonged together with Liebschwitz , Lietzsch , Lengefeld and Niebra from the 16th century to 1928 to the Saxon enclave Liebschwitz ( Ziegenhierdsches Ländchen ). It was subject to the inheritance jurisdiction of the Liebschwitz manor. At that time the old salt road still ran from Pforten via Taubenpreskel to Liebschwitz, at the beginning of the 19th century it was relocated to the Elstertal, which led to a new extension settlement in the valley . The responsible school location over the centuries was Liebschwitz.

In 1892 a windmill-powered water pipeline was built in Taubenpreskel, in 2014 it was demolished.

The November Revolution of 1918 claimed 26 deaths in the area; at the same time it meant the end of the feudalist rule of Saxony-Altenburg as well as for all German feudal states.

In 1923, the naturalist Bruno Brause from Gera discovered traces of a flint workshop on the Zoitzberg from around 30,000 years BC. Discovered; From 1930 onwards, an extensive investigation and documentation of the site began.

With the move of the Moritz Jahr machine factory from Geraer Neustadt, a machine manufacturer for finishing, bleaching, dyeing and steam laundry, which was very renowned at the time, industrial jobs were created on a large scale.

On April 1, 1928, the previous Saxon exclave of Liebschwitz and pigeon preslects came to the state of Thuringia. From 1940 to 1945 there were several air raids on pigeon prescles, in particular on new pigeon presles and the factories of the Moritz Jahr machine factory.

In 1889 it was extensively rebuilt, the furnishings were supplemented by the pulpit paintings and the image of the Ascension above the altar. The organ dates back to 1878. After extensive renovation, the church on September 24, 2000, newly consecrated . The church was originally a fortified church with ramparts and moats, possibly also built on the remains of an early rampart castle.
