history

Stone bridges were first mentioned in a document in 1366 as stone bridges . An identical place name is found in a district of Linda near Neustadt an der Orla in the Saale-Orla district . In both cases, the name is likely to go back less to a bridge structure in today's sense, but rather to “a path paved with stone slabs through damp terrain”.

North of the village was formerly the Wallburg Vogelherdhöhle are obtained from the still Wall- and grave remains.

Manor stone bridges

The place was shaped by the estate since the 16th century. For the years 1534 to 1682 it was documented by the von Schaurodts , 1682 to 1719 to the House of Reuss-Schleiz , 1719 to 1743 to Solms-Tecklenburg , 1743 to 1801 to Reuss-Obergreiz , 1801 to 1812 to Reuss-Köstritz , from 1812 until 1931 to the Metsch family (including Emil von Metsch , under whom the estate was converted into a family affidavit in 1852 ), or by inheritance from Brandenstein and von Tschammer, and finally from 1932 to its expropriation in 1945 in the possession of the Remy family . The manor had patrimonial jurisdiction over stone bridges and robes , two estates in Lessen , 6 estates in Rusitz , 5 estates in Langenberg and a house in Gera. This patrimonial jurisdiction ended on December 31, 1854.

In addition to other farm properties, various small sites were created from the 18th century. From 1690 the place also had fiefdom over robes . In 1827 the place had a manor, 34 houses and 162 inhabitants.

After the political turnaround in 1989/90 it was no longer possible to save the now very dilapidated estate including the old manor house , so that this complex, which had shaped the place and the townscape for centuries, was demolished a few years ago. Only the park with its old trees is still a reminder today.

In the 1990s, a new development area was designated.

politics

Steinbrücken was incorporated on July 1, 1950 according to Roben. Since April 1st 1994 the place belongs to the city of Gera. Together with Roben and Rusitz, it forms the district of Roben of the city of Gera with its own local constitution and its own local council (until II / 2009 local council) . Karin Conradi (CDU) has been the local mayor since 1994.
