The place is north of the Zoitzberg in the southeastern urban area on the border with Kauern in the district of Greiz .
history
Poris, historically part of Sachsen-Altenburg , is first mentioned in a document in 1551. With its two farms, it was one of the smallest municipalities with legal capacity in what was then the German Empire until 1928.
In 1928, as part of the exchange of land between the states of Saxony and Thuringia founded in 1919, the exclaves located in Thuringia came to Thuringia and were combined to form the municipality of Poris-Lengefeld. Belonging to the district of Gera at the time, it was incorporated into the city of Gera on July 1, 1950.
