history

Zeulsdorf was first mentioned in a document on October 22nd, 1409 in connection with a Friedrich von Gropz zu Zeulsdorf as an old castle man of the town bailiff of Gera. Over the centuries Zeulsdorf belonged to the rule of Gera. In 1827 the place comprised 16 houses with 93 inhabitants in addition to the manor.

A chamber commissioner resident in Zeulsdorf and former grammar school professor for mathematics was the keeper of the Gera gauges and weights in 1811.

The responsible parish and school location was Dürrenebersdorf, where the deceased were also buried until the 19th century.

In 1950 Zeulsdorf was incorporated into Gera. The Zeulsdorfer Flur for plan sections 7 and 8 was also included in the drawing up of the development plan for the large Lusan residential area from the beginning of the 1970s; On December 18, 1986, the extension of tram line 3 to the Zeulsdorf terminus was put into operation.

Zeulsdorf manor

The manor was divided into an upper and a lower manor between 1567 and 1679. In addition to Zeulsdorf, it also had inheritance jurisdiction over Weißig , four houses in Dürrenebersdorf and one house in Hundhaupten . The lower jurisdiction was abolished on January 1, 1855. In addition, it exercised the right of patronage over the church in Dürrenebersdorf. Since 1672, the subjects in Oberröppisch and Unterröppisch belonged to the Zeulsdorf manor, with a separate patrimonial court for Oberröppisch .

The manor was owned by the Limmer family until 1724, the Cramer family until 1797, the Bartsch family until 1814 and then the Albert and Leers families.
