North Providence is a city in Providence County in the state of Rhode Island in the United States .
history
The first whites settled in 1636. 1765 established the self-governing community North Providence, which then also included areas that are now Providence and Pawtucket . But it wasn't until 1974 that a major was elected for the first time.
1921–1971 an area of the community was ecologically contaminated by industrial waste. Nevertheless, the area was built with houses for pensioners and only cordoned off in 2000.
