Wolfgang Lemb (born February 11, 1962 in Weilbach , Hessen) is a German trade unionist ( IG Metall ) and former politician ( SPD ). From 2009 to 2014 he was a member of the Thuringian State Parliament .

Career

Lemb obtained his secondary school leaving certificate in 1978 at the secondary school in Hofheim am Taunus and then began training as a universal milling cutter at Alfred Teves GmbH in Frankfurt am Main . In October 1978 he joined IG Metall and was elected to the youth council in 1980 and to the works council in 1984.

After completing his apprenticeship, he worked for Teves until 1987, when he resigned to study at the Frankfurt Academy of Labor . After graduating from the academy, he began to work as a trade union secretary for IG Metall in Darmstadt . As a result of the political change , he came to Thuringia as a trade union secretary , first in November 1990 to Eisenach , in April 1991 Lemb moved to Gera as the first authorized representative and managing director of IG Metall . In this function, he was also responsible for IG Metall Jena-Saalfeld since April 2004.

In May 2011 Lemb moved to IG Metall Erfurt as the first authorized representative and managing director.

In October 2013, Lemb was elected as a managing board member of IG Metall and is responsible for transnational trade union policy as well as industrial, structural and energy policy on the IG Metall board.

Since 2016 Lemb has also been Vice President of industriAll Europe, the federation of European industrial unions.

politics

Lemb joined the SPD in 1985 and was involved in the local association Flörsheim am Main .

For the state elections in Thuringia in 2009 , Lemb received 14.5% of the first votes as a direct applicant in the Gera II constituency , but was able to move into the Thuringian state parliament via 5th place on the SPD state list.

In the parliamentary group he was the spokesman for economics and technology and a member of the working group economics, agriculture and the environment.

In terms of content, Lemb devoted himself to the topics of employee rights, minimum wages , procurement law , promotion of medium-sized companies , strengthening the industrial base of the Thuringian economy and promoting the regenerative forms of energy photovoltaics and wind energy .

After being elected as a managing director of IG Metall, Lemb resigned his state parliament mandate on January 31, 2014. For him moved Claudia Scheerschmidt according to the state parliament.

Private

Lemb is married and has three daughters. In his spare time he rides a motorbike with his old, from the year 1967 coming BMW R 60/2 . In summer he skates and in winter he goes skiing.
