Laura Hanna Wahl (born October 26, 1994 in Lörrach ) is a German politician ( Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen ) and has been a member of the Thuringian state parliament since March 2020 .

Life

After graduating from high school , Wahl spent a voluntary social year in Zielona Góra in Poland , where she taught German and English as a language assistant at a middle school . From 2014 to 2018 she completed her bachelor's degree in international relations and economics at the University of Erfurt . From 2014 to 2016 she was a member of the university group "Impulse. Thinking Plurally - Shaping Economics" and from 2015 to 2016 she was a student representative on the University's Equal Opportunities Council. In autumn 2018 she started the master’s program in Economics at the University of Jena , which she did not continue due to her candidacy for the state parliament. As a student trainee, Wahl worked at DB Systel GmbH from 2018 to 2019 and before assuming the state parliament mandate as a personal advisor to the minister in the Thuringian Ministry for Migration, Justice and Consumer Protection .

Wahl joined the Green Youth and Alliance 90 / The Greens in 2014 . From 2015 to 2016 she was active as spokesperson for the local Green Youth Group in Erfurt and then volunteered for three years as the state spokesperson for the Thuringian Green Youth and its women's, inter, trans and gender policy spokesperson. From 2018 to 2019 she was part of the working group Perspectives of the Green Youth, which developed far-reaching structural changes for the political youth association. Since May 2019 she has been city councilor in Erfurt and, for her parliamentary group, deputy chairwoman of the committee for urban development, building, the environment, climate protection and transport.

In the state elections in Thuringia in autumn 2019 , she ran as a direct candidate in the Gera II constituency and on the state list of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen in 6th place. As the list successor, Wahl took over the state parliament mandate from Anja Siegesmund in March 2020 . She is the spokeswoman for the parliamentary group for transport, the environment, energy, nature conservation, women's, equality and queer politics as well as for the constitutional committee.
