The Thuringian Ministry for Migration, Justice and Consumer Protection (TMMJV) is one of the nine ministries of the Free State of Thuringia . It was founded in 1990 under the name Thuringian Ministry of Justice and is based in the government district "Am Alten Steiger" on the southern edge of Erfurt . On March 4, 2020, Dirk Adams was appointed Minister of this Ministry in the Ramelow II cabinet .
History and areas of responsibility
The predecessor was the Ministry for Public Education and Justice in the state of Thuringia between 1920 and 1952 . After the re-establishment of the Free State of Thuringia as a result of the reunification of Germany , the Ministry of Justice was re-established in 1990. At first it was named Ministry of Justice, Federal and European Affairs . In 1992 a separate ministry for federal and European affairs was founded , headed by Christine Lieberknecht (CDU). In 1994, European affairs were returned to the Ministry of Justice and European Affairs , while federal affairs were incorporated into the State Chancellery , where Lieberknecht was the minister. In 1999, European affairs also fell to the State Chancellery.
With the formation of the Ramelow I cabinet in December 2014, the Ministry of Justice was assigned the areas of responsibility for migration and consumer protection and the Ministry was renamed accordingly.
