history
In the first government of what was then the province of Brandenburg ( Cabinet Steinhoff I ), formed in 1945, no ministries existed. The 3rd Vice President Fritz Rücker was responsible for “work and social affairs” . From the government that followed in 1946 until the state of Brandenburg was dissolved in 1952, there was a Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs and a Ministry of Health.
For the re-establishment of the state of Brandenburg in 1990, the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs was re-established. In 2009 it initially handed over the "health" area to the Ministry of the Environment , but received it back in 2014. In 2019, for the first time since 1990, the “Labor” division was separated from the Ministry of Social Affairs and incorporated into the Ministry of Economic Affairs .
