The Bavarian State Ministry for Health and Care (StMGP) was first created in Bavaria in October 2013 as an independent ministry . The ministry is based in Nuremberg and Munich . It was separated from the previous Bavarian State Ministry for Environment and Health .
Melanie Huml , a doctor who was previously State Secretary in the Bavarian State Ministry for Environment and Health, was appointed the Ministry's first incumbent State Minister .
Seat
The headquarters of the ministry is in Munich at Haidenauplatz 1. The Bavarian state government decided at its closed meeting at the end of July 2016 that the ministry should move to Nuremberg. The move should be carried out gradually and be completed by 2020. In Munich there should also be a "head office" of the ministry. Of around 300 employees at the ministry, 110 are already working in Nuremberg.

tasks
The Ministry is responsible for the entire health system (relating to human health) including statutory health insurance . This also includes responsibility for hospital and pharmaceuticals. It will also undertake from the area of the Bavarian State Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, the Family and Integration the field of nursing, including social care insurance and related areas, such as the Hospice essence , the family care and the strengthening of family carers . Tasks include infection control and hygiene , fighting epidemics , addictions and drugs , pharmaceuticals and pharmacy and nutritional medicine . As the highest specialist authority, it is supported by the health authorities and the Bavarian State Office for Health and Food Safety .
Legal supervision
According to § 78 SGB V, the ministry exercises legal supervision over corporations under public law , which regulate health care matters in Bavaria as self-administration . These include the State Chamber of Physicians , the Chamber of Psychotherapists, the State Chamber of Dentists , the Chamber of Veterinarians , the Chamber of Pharmacists, the Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians and the Association of Statutory Health Insurance Dentists . It also includes the statutory health insurance companies that are based in Bavaria. The state committee of doctors and health insurance companies and the state committee of dentists and health insurance companies are also subject to the legal supervision of the StMGP.

Joint state committee
On December 1, 2015, the joint state committee for Bavaria was set up to deal with questions of medical care . The legal basis is § 90a SGB V. On this basis, the thirteenth ordinance amending the ordinance for the implementation of social laws (§§ 10a – d) was issued on July 9, 2015 by the Bavarian State Ministry for Health and Care . The joint state committee can make recommendations on cross-sector health care issues. In addition, there are statements on demand planning , undersupply and admission restrictions .
It consists of 12 voting members:

- State associations of health insurance companies and substitute funds (4 members)
- Bavarian Hospital Society (2 members)
- Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians in Bavaria (2 members)
- Medical professions (1 member)
- municipal umbrella organizations (1 member)
Insofar as matters relate solely or predominantly to contractual dental care (this is decided by the State Ministry of Health and Nursing), the Bavarian Association of Statutory Health Insurance Dentists (KZVB) sends 2 voting members instead of the Bavarian Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians . Except in this special case, however, the KZVB is not a member of the joint state committee, not even in an advisory capacity.

Bavarian Health and Care Award 2015
In 2015, the BStMGP announced the Bavarian Health and Care Prize for the first time, for which 163 applicants were nominated. The aim of the award is to recognize extraordinary, outstanding achievements in the health and care sector. It is the highest state award in the health and care sector in Bavaria. The three winners will each receive 5,000 euros. In a ceremony on November 17, 2015 in the Kaisersaal of the Munich Residence, the three winners were presented by Minister of State Melanie Huml.

Alliance for Prevention
Minister of State Huml had announced an alliance for prevention in her government statement on May 19, 2015 . The basis for this is the Bavarian Prevention Plan, which all ministries of state and the members of the State Prevention Working Group were involved in drawing up. A core concern is the increased prevention and early detection of diseases . The certificate for the new alliance for prevention was signed with 83 partners on November 25, 2015 in the Kaisersaal of the Residenz in Munich. Representatives of the chambers , health insurance companies and associations participate in the alliance . It is designed to help people lead a healthy lifestyle.
