The Berlin Senate Department for Health, Care and Equal Opportunities (SenGPG for short) is one of ten specialist administrations of the Berlin Senate with the rank of a state ministry and as such part of the state government as well as the highest state authority responsible for health , care and equality policy in the German capital .

The current health senator has been Dilek Kalayci ( SPD ) since December 2016 . It is supported by the two state secretaries Barbara König and Martin Matz (both SPD).

The authority is based in the Kreuzberg district at Oranienstrasse 106.

Tasks and organization

The Senate Department for Health, Nursing and Equal Opportunities is divided into three main departments corresponding to the fields of competence and a general cross-sectional department for personnel and finances. In addition, there is a management staff directly subordinate to the Senator, the press office, a liaison office for cabinet, federal and EU matters as well as the independent state representatives for psychiatry, drugs and patients assigned to the Senator.

Department Z

Department Z (Central) is responsible for general organizational issues relating to law, personnel, finances and infrastructure.

Department I.

Department I is responsible for the area of ​​health and is responsible, among other things, for general health reporting, epidemiology, health and social information systems, psychiatry, addiction prevention and precaution, questions of health and social insurance, hospital management, emergency preparedness and health management, drug supply and educational and public relations work in health matters.

Department II

Department II is responsible for the entire area of ​​nursing and takes care of questions relating to nursing professions, nursing facilities, nursing insurance as well as future prospects and concept development for modern nursing against the background of digitization.

Department III

Department III is responsible for all questions relating to women's and equality policy.

Subordinate institutions

Institutions subordinate to the Senate Administration are the Joint Cancer Register (GKR) of the states of Berlin , Brandenburg , Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania , Saxony-Anhalt , Saxony and Thuringia , the State Institute for Forensic and Social Medicine and the Berlin Hospital for Measures (KMV).
