Life

After graduating from the Elmshorn Bismarck School , Reinhard Ueberhorst studied law at the University of Hamburg , which he graduated with the First State Exam in 1972 . He then completed a political science degree at the University of Amsterdam until 1974 .

In autumn 1976 Ueberhorst was elected - at the age of 28 - in constituency 7 (Pinneberg) for the SPD in the Bundestag for the 8th electoral period (1976-1980) . From 1979 to 1980 he was chairman of the first energy-policy study commission , which was called Future Nuclear Energy Policy .

His re-election as Member of the Bundestag took place in 1980 for the 9th electoral term (1980–1983). Ueberhorst resigned his mandate in January 1981 when he was appointed Senator for Health and Environmental Protection by Berlin's new Governing Mayor Hans-Jochen Vogel . The term of office lasted until June 11, 1981, as the CDU under Richard von Weizsäcker had won the new elections on May 10, 1981 and the SPD went into the opposition . Reinhard Ueberhorst remained a member of the Berlin House of Representatives (MdA) until 1985.

Reinhard Ueberhorst has been running a consultancy for discursive project work and planning studies since 1981. Since then, Ueberhorst has been organizing regular discussion evenings in his hometown of Elmshorn with representatives from science, politics, culture and business on current socio-political issues.

Ueberhorst has been a lecturer in the General Studies at the Elmshorn North Academy since 2008 . There he organizes a seminar for politics and economics - basic knowledge and skills for lateral thinkers. In the 2014/2015 winter semester, Ueberhorst took on a teaching position at the University of Witten-Herdecke for a seminar on discursive politics. This seminar was repeated in the 2015/2016 winter semester.

In the discussion about the policy on nuclear waste , Ueberhorst introduced conceptual ideas about the democratic nuclear waste policy and critical analyzes of the Commission for the Storage of Highly Radioactive Waste Materials.
