Positions
Saretzki works on issues of environmental policy and nature conservation policy in an interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary manner . Nevertheless, in a 2010 interview published on the Goethe-Institut website, he called for disciplinary boundaries to be adhered to on global issues such as climate change :
“In public debates, academically trained scientists are always at risk of inappropriately exceeding the limits of their special scientific competence. In public controversies, there is a growing tendency to neglect the maxim of intellectual honesty presupposed in scientific discourse and to claim the authority of a scientific expert for one's own statements, even in questions where one's own answers are not covered by the respective subject-specific competence .
