Hans-Jürgen Behrendt (born June 11, 1917 in Danzig ; † June 5, 2009 in Berlin ) was a German doctor and politician ( CDU ).

Life and work

After graduating from the Askanischer school in Berlin-Kreuzberg Behrendt took a degree in medicine in Tübingen , Hamburg and Berlin in which he in 1941 with the graduation to the Dr. med. finished. He then took part in the Second World War as a medical officer and troop doctor and was deployed on the Eastern Front.

After the end of the war, Behrendt was initially employed by the State Health Office of Thuringia . In 1945/46 he was head of the local hygiene department of the health administration of the Soviet occupation zone . He later worked as a medical officer in Berlin-Charlottenburg and became a member of the German Medical Association .

Political party

Behrendt had been a member of the CDU since 1945. From 1965 to 1967 he was district chairman of the party in Charlottenburg and at the same time deputy party chairman of the Berlin regional association.

Behrendt was a district councilor in Charlottenburg and was a member of the Berlin House of Representatives in 1951/52 and from 1963 to 1975 .

Public offices

After the death of Hans Schmiljan in 1961, Behrendt was elected Senator for Health Care by the Berlin House of Representatives and belonged to the Senate led by the Governing Mayor Willy Brandt ( SPD ). Due to the defeat of the CDU in the elections for the House of Representatives on February 17, 1963 and the break of the grand coalition, he left office on March 11, 1963.
