Lambres is located on the Scarpe in the north of the department, 47 kilometers west of Lille and 16 kilometers southwest of Hazebrouck . Neighboring municipalities of Lambres are Mametz in the northwest, Aire-sur-la-Lys in the north, Isbergues in the northeast, Mazinghem in the south and Rombly in the southwest. The village gained historical importance in 575, when Chilperic I buried the Austrasian King Sigibert I there. Sigibert's body was later taken to the Saint-Médard Abbey in Soissons .

Culture and sights

The Gothic church of Saint-Lambert dates from the 15th century. The bell tower was built in the 17th century. The church has been classified as a Monument historique (historical monument) since 1913 . The church has a bell cast by F. Vilotte, Garnier and Drouot in 1782, as well as a baptismal font from 1593 and wooden paneling and pulpit from the first half of the 18th century.

The former Morel brewery (later Stoven or Danvin) was built in 1834. In 1927, 9,000 hectoliters of beer were produced and bottled. During World War II the production was discontinued.
