Verquigneul is a French commune with a population of 1,929 (as at 1st January 2017) in the department of Pas-de-Calais in the region of Hauts-de-France ; it belongs to the Arrondissement of Béthune and the Canton of Beuvry (until 2015: Canton of Béthune-Nord ). The inhabitants are called Verquigneulois (es) .

geography

Verquigneul is located about three kilometers south-southeast of Béthune . Verquigneul is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Béthune in the north and northwest, Beuvry in the north and northeast, Labourse in the east, Nœux-les-Mines in the south and Verquin in the west.

Autoroute A26 and Route nationale 43 run through the municipality .

From 1990 to 2007 the municipality was part of the neighboring town of Béthune.
