Auchy-les-Mines is a French commune with 4726 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Pas-de-Calais in the region of Hauts-de-France ; it belongs to the arrondissement of Béthune and the canton of Douvrin . The inhabitants are called Alciaquois .
geography
Auchy-les-Mines is south of the Canal d'Aire . It is surrounded by the neighboring communities Violaines in the north and west, Haisnes in the east and south and Vermelles in the southwest.
The former Route nationale 41 (today's D941) runs through the municipality .
