Annequin ( West Flemish : Aneken) is a French municipality with 2201 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Pas-de-Calais in the region of Hauts-de-France ; it belongs to the Arrondissement of Béthune and the Béthune-Bruay community, Artois-Lys Romane .
geography
Annequin is located in the densely populated northern French coalfield between the cities of Béthune , Lens and Lille . Immediately north of Annequin, the Canal d'Aire à La Bassée runs as part of the major shipping route Dunkirk-Scheldt . The surroundings of Annequin are mostly flat and only a few meters above sea level; to the south the terrain rises gradually. The highest point in the 3.99 km² municipal area is a 50 m high spoil dump. In the north of the municipality, remnants of former alluvial forests can be found on swampy ground. The districts of le Petit Sailly and Rue de Gorre belong to Annequin as well as a large part of the workers' settlement Cité du N ° 9 Neighboring communities of Annequin are Beuvry in the north, Festubert and Cuinchy in the northeast, Cambrin in the east, Noyelles-lès-Vermelles in the southeast, Mazingarbe in the South and Sailly-Labourse to the west.

The D 941 trunk road from Béthune to Douvrin runs through the community of Annequin . Eight kilometers west of Annequin there is a connection to the Autoroute A 26 from Calais to Reims . The two kilometers from Annequin remote station in Cuinchy is located on the railway line from Lille to Abbeville ( Ligne de Fives à Abbeville ).
