Josip Žabkar

Josip Žabkar (born December 24, 1914 in Ljubljana , Slovenia , † May 19, 1984 in Rome ) was a Roman Catholic Archbishop and Vatican diplomat .

Life

Josip Žabkar received the sacrament of ordination for the Archdiocese of Ljubljana on September 23, 1939 .

On May 17, 1969, Pope Paul VI appointed him . the Titular Archbishop of Virunum and ordered him to Apostolic Pro-Nuncio in Finland and the Apostolic Delegate in Scandinavia . The Cardinal Secretary of State Jean-Marie Cardinal Villot donated him episcopal ordination on June 30 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the secretary of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples , Archbishop Sergio Pignedoli , and the Bishop of Bruges , Emiel-Jozef De Smedt . On October 8, 1976 Josip Žabkar was also Apostolic Pro-Nuncio in Iceland .

Josip Žabkar resigned on October 27, 1981 as Apostolic Pro-Nuncio in Finland and Iceland and as Apostolic Delegate in Scandinavia.
