Haisnes (NDL .: "Hagen") is a French municipality with 4337 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Pas-de-Calais in the region of Hauts-de-France . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Béthune and the Canton of Douvrin .
geography
Haisnes is on the Canal d'Aire . Haisnes is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Violaines and La Bassée in the north, Douvrin in the east, Hulluch in the southeast, Loos-en-Gohelle in the south, Vermelles in the southwest and Auchy-les-Mines in the west.
history
The community was completely destroyed in World War II.
On March 27, 2003, an explosion at the local explosives plant left four dead.
