geography

Allouagne is located at an average altitude of 32 meters above sea ​​level 40 kilometers southwest of Lille , the capital of the Nord-Pas-de-Calais region, and 3 kilometers northeast of Auchel not far from the A26 autoroute . The municipality has an area of ​​7.81 square kilometers.

history

Allouagne Silva Aslonias is mentioned in a document from the year 1000 . Silva is the Latin word for "forest". It is assumed that the word Aslonia originated from the Germanic Ask , then the meaning would be "ash forest".

politics

Allouagne is part of the community association Communauté de communes Artois Lys . Since 1974 there has been a town partnership with the German town of Schwerte and the Ergste district, which was incorporated in 1975 .

economy

The Tipret brewery and malt house has existed since the 17th century. It was sold in 1850 and called the Brasserie des Houillères . In 1900 the brewery building was enlarged and the brewery modernized. In 1912 one of the region's first cooling systems was installed, including a filter and filling system . The beer had previously been fermented in wooden barrels.

In 1927 the brewery was sold to Duquesnes and Vandermersch, who had new production halls built in 1929. In 1927 the brewery produced 25,000 hectoliters of top-fermented beer. In 1946 80,000 hectoliters of bottom-fermented beer were produced. In the 1970s the brewery was closed and used as a warehouse.
