The Gibraltar women's national football team represents the British crown colony of Gibraltar under the control of the Gibraltar Football Association in international women's football . The team played its first official games in early July 2014 as part of the so-called UEFA Development Tournament in Gibraltar. GFA has been a full member of UEFA since May 24, 2013 and a member of FIFA since May 13, 2016 .
history
Even before they finally joined UEFA, the team took part in the 2011 women's football tournament of the Island Games on the Isle of Wight . There the selection remained after defeats against the Isle of Man (0: 9), Greenland (0: 8) and Hitra (0: 5), however, pointless and goalless.
UEFA Development Tournament
In early July 2014, Gibraltar hosted the UEFA Development Tournament . There they played the first official UEFA international match against Andorra on July 1 , which also debuted at this level. It was lost 0: 1. Three days later, the team still played against the much more experienced Luxembourgers and lost 3-0. The game against an Algarve selection was also lost. Nonetheless, the results represent a clear increase compared to the unofficial games of 2011.
