The Georgian women's national soccer team is Georgia's pick . As a UEFA member, the team takes part in the European Championships even though Georgia is geographically part of Asia .

history

Until 1990 Georgia belonged to the Soviet Union and did not have an independent national team. The Georgian Football Association was founded in 1990 and joined UEFA and FIFA in 1992 .

The women's national team's first international match since independence took place on September 10, 1997 at 0:11 against Yugoslavia . On May 11, 2009, the friendly game against Macedonia achieved their first victory 3-1. All home games so far have been played in Rustavi or Tbilisi . So far Georgia has not been able to qualify for either a World or European Championship. In qualifying for the 2011 World Cup , Georgia finished last in its group. The best result was a 1-1 draw against Bulgaria. In the first qualifying game against Denmark, the team conceded their highest defeat so far with a 0:15. In the pre-qualification tournament for the EM 2013 in Malta , Georgia was eliminated as third in the group. Georgia was also eliminated in the pre-qualification tournament for the 2015 World Cup in Lithuania in April 2013 , but was able to defeat the hosts 4: 3.
