The GDR women's national football team existed from 1989 to 1990.

The team was founded in 1989 to give the up-and-coming GDR women's football the recognition it deserves.

She completed an international match on May 9, 1990 in Potsdam against Czechoslovakia . Czechoslovakia won the game 3-0.

In July 1990 there were friendly matches at a tournament in France and in October, this time as a selection by the Northeast German Football Association , a game against a Bavarian selection.
