Olympic games
Since Northern Ireland as part of the United Kingdom is not a member of the IOC, the team did not take part in the Olympic Games until 2012. For the 2012 Olympic Games , the four British Football Associations had agreed that an all-British team would represent the host country (on behalf of the Olympic Committee of Great Britain and Northern Ireland) as an automatically qualified team. From Northern Ireland, however, only goalkeeper Emma Higgins was nominated as a "stand-by" player, who was not used.
Algarve Cup
The national team took part in the Algarve Cup for the first time in 2004 , but always played in Group C against the weaker teams and came last in the final ranking.
Cyprus Cup
Between 2011 and 2013, the team took part in the Cyprus Cup , but so far only finished last.
