The Istria Cup 2016 was the 4th edition of the women's soccer invitation tournament for national teams , which has been held since 2013 (at that time as the Slavic Cup 2013 ) and was held from March 2 to 7, 2016 at various venues in Croatia . The tournament ran parallel to the Algarve and Cyprus Cups in which stronger teams took part. As with these, only eight teams took part in the Istria Cup this year, two of them B and two junior teams. The games took place in the City Stadium (Stella Maris Complex) in Umag as well as in Dajla and Poreč .
The eight teams played in their group each against each other for the placement. The best score, then the direct comparison and only then the goal difference was decisive for the placement. Placement games did not take place this year.
Since FIFA classifies the games as " friendly games" , each team was allowed to make six substitutions per game. The games against the B and U teams were not counted by FIFA and were therefore not included in the FIFA world ranking .
