The Istria Cup 2015 was the third edition of the women's football invitation tournament for national teams , which had been held since 2013 (at that time as the Slavic Cup 2013 ) and took place from March 4 to 11, 2015 at various venues in Croatia . The tournament ran parallel to the Algarve and Cyprus Cup , but stronger teams took part. Only one participant in the Istria Cup, the team from Costa Rica was able to qualify for the 2015 World Cup , but World Cup participants France let their B-team take part while the A-team took part in the Algarve Cup. Both met in Group C. For Costa Rica - the only non-European participant - it was the first games in Europe and against European teams.

The venues were Buje / Novigrad (City Stadium Buje), Poreč (Veli Jože), Rovinj (Valbruna), Rovinjsko Selo (Field Rovinjsko Selo) and Umag (City stadium Umag (Stella Maris complex)), in Istria on the Adriatic Sea .

The twelve teams initially played each against each other in their group for the placement. The best score, then the direct comparison and only then the goal difference was decisive for the placement. Placement games then took place.

  • Final: Winner Group A - Best Winner of Groups B and C
  • Match for 3rd place: Second Group A - Second best winner of Groups B and C.
  • Match for 5th place: Second Group B - Second Group C
  • Game for 7th place: Third Group A - Best third of groups B and C.
  • Game for 9th place: Fourth Group A - Second best third in Groups B and C.
  • Game for 11th place: Fourth Group B - Fourth Group C.

Since FIFA classified the games as “ friendly ”, each team was allowed to make six substitutions per game. The matches against the French B-team were not counted by FIFA and were therefore not included in the FIFA world rankings .
